Tilden Park Camping Logistics

Camping Dates

We have a campsite at Wildcat View in Tilden Park, starting at 5pm on Tuesday, June 27. We have the site reserved for 3 nights: June 27 (Tuesday), 28 (Wednesday), and 29 (Thursday).  Our check out time is 12pm on Friday, June 30.

Camping Amenities:

  • We can provide you with the following gear: sleeping space in a tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad.
  • Firepit and BBQ.
  • 12 parking spaces at camp. Additional parking available outside the park in the nearby neighborhoods. A gate code will be provided to all campers the week before the campout.
  • Pit toilet.
  • Clean drinking water spigot.

Camping Restrictions:

No pets (except service animals) or alcohol are allowed in the park.
Smoking or vaping is only allowed within the overnight campsite. Please be respectful of other campers and park visitors when smoking or vaping.

Public Transportation: From Downtown Berkeley (approximately 40 minutes, requires 1 mile of walking):
At the bus stop on Shattuck Street between Center and Addison catch the 67 Spruce. Ride the 67 Spruce for 20 stops, getting off at Spruce St. and Grizzly Peak Boulevard. Walk across Grizzly Peak Blvd towards the church, then turn left and walk down Canon Drive. Follow Canon Drive to the bottom of the hill. At the bottom of the hill you will reach a fork. Turn left, following the signs for the Nature Area and Little Farm. Walk along the length of the parking lot dotted with picnic areas. At the end of the parking lot you will reach a cul-de-sac. Continue onto the footpath that heads towards the visitor center. Without entering the visitor center, turn right and walk up the hill on the path that skirts the edge of the fenced pasture. At the top of the hill, continue heading uphill into the forest. Turn left onto Loop Road which will be a fire trail, then make the next right which will take you into Wildcat View Camp.

Driving from Hwy 80: Take the University Avenue exit in Berkeley. Follow University east towards the hills. Turn left on Oxford Street, right on Rose Street and left on Spruce Street. Follow Spruce to the stop sign at the top of the hill at Wildcat Canyon Drive. Go through intersection and make an immediate left on Canon Dr. At the bottom, turn right on Central Park Drive and follow to parking area. Turn left onto Lone Oak Road, which turns into Loop Road. Take the second right to Wildcat View Group Camp.

Driving from Hwy 24: Exit at Fish Ranch Road. Take Fish Ranch Road to Grizzly Peak Blvd. and turn right. Continue on Grizzly Peak Blvd. through the Berkeley hills until you reach the
intersection of Spruce St., Wildcat Canyon Drive and Canon Drive. Turn right on Wildcat Canyon Road, then immediately make a sharp left on Canon Drive. At the bottom, turn right on Central Park Drive and follow to parking area. Turn left onto Lone Oak Road, which turns into Loop Road. Take the second right to Wildcat View Group Camp.

The first and second floors at the David Brower Center both have gendered male/female bathrooms. We invite our guests to use whichever bathroom they feel is most comfortable.
